Our Lady of Fatima: The Call to Prayer, Reparation, and Peace (Mary’s Message Podcast)

Hallelujah. All right. Welcome to Mary's Message: Leading Hearts to Jesus Today, the podcast where we listen to the voice of the Blessed Mother and allow her to guide us ever closer to her Son in our modern world. I'm Cristy Murray, along with Father Perry Kenaston, and each week we explore stories of faith, conversations with Catholic voices, and practical spiritual tools to help you encounter Christ more deeply. Thank you for joining us as we open our hearts to Mary's message and let her lead us to the loving embrace of Jesus. Well, Father Perry, welcome. Today we're going to talk about Our Lady of Fatima. Yes. Would you like to open us up in prayer? Yeah. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen. I'll start with this prayer here. I'm sure we all know it since we say the rosary. "Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of mercy, our life, our sweetness, and our hope. To thee we cry, poor banished children of Eve. To thee we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in the valley of tears. Turn then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us. And after this our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of your womb, Jesus Christ, double amen. O Sweet Virgin Mary, pray for us, O Holy Mother of God, that we may make worthy the promises of Christ. Amen." Now, my friends, uh, Our Lady of Fatima, we kind of know the story and everything else by... And if you really wanna get a, a good... Some information, alls you have to do... I, I've seen it on YouTube, um, Our Lady of Fatima and Bernadette and everything, and it seems... They seem to be very, very accurate, so. But it says here in the book that we're using, "Fatima, Portugal, 1917. The three visionaries at Fatima. The three visionaries of Fatima, all from the same extended family, including Lucia dos Santos, the oldest, who was born on March 22nd, 1907. She was 10 years old when the first apparition of Our Lady took place on May 13th, 1917. Francisco, the, the cousin, was born on June 11th, 1908, the sixth of seven children. He, like his sister, Jacinta, was playful, never complaining when treated unfair, and was never combative. Francisco never heard the Lady's words, although he saw her and felt her presence. Jacinta, the third visionary, was two years younger than her brother Francisco. She was a delightful child who loved to dance and collect flowers." Most of all, she loved following L-Lucia to the places where she tended the f-family sheep. After the first apparition that included angels visiting, she became very serious and reflective. Jacinta, we are told, was the most generous in complying with Our Lady's wishes to make sacrifices for humans. The first apparition of the Blessed Mother. The following year on May 13th, 1917, the Blessed Mother appeared to them and encouraged the children to pray the rosary every day and to practice devotions to her Immaculate Heart, which is so terribly outraged and offended by the sins of men. The child or children also realized that God is terribly offended by sin, and that He desires all humankind to abandon sin and reparation for their children and crimes. Through prayer and sanctifi- sacrifice, Our Lady solemnly pleaded, "Do not offend the Lord Our God anymore, for He is already too much offended." During that another apparition, the child or children were briefly shown a vision of hell. After which Our Lady told them, "You have seen hell for the souls of poor souls go. To save them, God wishes to establish in the world devotion to our Immaculate Heart. If what I say to you is done, many souls will be saved, and there will be peace." The Blessed Mother warned that if people did not stop offending God, there would be persecutions of the Church, famine, and chaste- chastisements. The Blessed Mother asked for the consecration of Russia. During another apparition, she asked for the consecration of Russia to her Immaculate Heart and the com- communions of the reparation on the first Saturday of five consecutive months. She also pleaded for the frequent recitation of the Rosary, which she said would obtain for us the graces we need to overcome sin. "My Immaculate Heart will be glorified in the way we will lead to God." In addition to Holy Rosary. Our Lady requested sacrifice, including the performance of one's daily duties. The last appara- apparition, the promise of a miracle would make all the people believe in their appearance, took place on October 13th, 1917. During the last apparition, when thousands of peoples descended on the Cova da Iria. Since it had rained steadily the night before, the people were thoroughly wet when the time of the predicted miracle was expected. Suddenly, their clothes were dry as the ground had been saturated. Then the sun began to twirl and emanate various lights and appeared to fall towards the earth. When the sun rose to its proper place in the sky, the people were awed by the spec- the spectacle and began praying with great emotion and fear. Two years after the vision, Jacinta and her brother Francisco died as prophesied by the Lady. Both children succumbed to the effects of influenza. At the age of 14, the remaining visionary, Lucia, entered a s- school conducted by the Sisters of Dorothy of Villaret. In 1925, she entered the order as a postulant. Later seeking a more contemplative life, Lucia entered the Discal- Discalced Carmelites order, and on May 13th, 1941, taking the name Sister Mary of the Sorrowful Mother. In 1930, the Bishop of Leiria-Fatima officially declared the apparition worthy of credibility. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the apparition, Pope Paul VI visited the shrine, and Pope John Paul II visited three times. In 1982, John Paul II visited and gave thanks for his life being saved by the assassin's attempt on May 13th, 1981. Another visit was made by him in 1991, but finally, in 2000, he went to the Basilica of Fatima to beatify Jacinta and Francisco. The remaining vision- visionary of Fatima, Sister Lucia, died on February 13th, 2005, at the age of 97, and is enthroned besides his regular companions in the Basilica of Fatima. Now those are, those are my notes, but I, I can share this with you too, for I think it's been three times now since I've had pilgrimages to Lourdes and Fatima, and we generally combine them together because they are so meaningful. And regardless of what time of the weather it is, um, it's really a, it's really a fantastic thing to do. And on one of the sites, what they do is we got, we got there and a- a- you get there, you get settled in, and then you're s- you're told by your tour guide, "Okay now, guys, we're gonna do something tonight here." I mean, you've flown all day, and you really want to do something tonight. Go on, guy. Lighten up here. Hey. He's, "No, you're gonna get a candle, and you're gonna march every... You're gonna march down to the area down there on this site, and you're gonna join them in prayer and rosary and everything else, and then you're gonna walk the way of the cross." And what a... You know, you're forgetting all about how tired you are because you're joining other people in that same, oh, that same spirituality that's right there at the time. And it really just sets the stage up for the, the next nine days of the trip and everything else because we go both to, to Fatima and to Lourdes, so. Anyway, it's a, it's a nice place to go to, even if we do it in November. A- and see now, the thing is, if you do it in November, you have less people. You have a little rain, but you have less people, and you're just right there, and you can just take your time. And that's the way the schedule works, too, is because if you want to, we can spend time there a little bit more. And I can tell you this, since I'm one of the, one... In my tours once we get on the bus, now y- you have to realize, my friends, when you do pilgrimages like this, it's a pilgrimage. It's not a tour. There's a vast difference between doing a tour worldly and being a, on a pilgrimage. And once we get to the hotel, you sign in, then we have a bit of a meeting, and we, we do our thing. And we're on the bus. We're generally on the bus by 7:30, 8 o'clock in the morning. And we're generally off the bus by 8 o'clock at night. Now whether or not you have some packages on board the, the bus That's up to you. I mean, the bus can only just hold so much. That's why you have oversized suitcases to stay in. They're the expandable ones. And I've traveled enough with a bunch of people, more than... They have at least one and maybe two expandables, which, which means that that poor bus driver and the, the tour guide, by the time they get through with our tour, they need to go see the-- somebody at the hospital in a car wreck. And their, their back is way out of whack. I mean, you know what an expandable suitcase is, the big ones. Mm-hmm. That holds a lot of... And we do our tours in November, so which means that you gotta have some Christmas presents. Yeah, right. Then you gotta make sure that everything goes through the-- to the States. That's why when you get on, when you get on the plane and wherever you're taking off of, could be Rome or some other place like that, you gotta make sure it's checked all the way to Los Angeles. Because if you don't, then you gotta unclaim-- then you gotta claim it and sprain your back, 'cause that's-- 'cause it's your stuff, not my stuff. You think I'm gonna help you? Look at me now, boy. Look at me now. I ain't gonna wreck my back. No. No offense, but, you know, you're responsible for your stuff, and I don't want to sound... This is probably all gonna be re-redacted, you know? So I don't know, but I have a lot of fun on my tours. I got, I got one that's coming up here to Poland to see, see Faustina and St- St. Paul John II. Need, need 10 more people, guys. So just listen to the podcast here or, you know, contact me for a telephone number, and we'll get you in touch with, with Robbie at the novice. We still have some time, but we need 10 more people, and we'll have a whole bus by ourselves. And it's a party bus. So start with prayer, and you have the, you have the Divine Mercies either at noon or three o'clock, and we have some more prayer, have daily masses. It's all you need. And you have each other, and you get acquainted with each other. When you get off the bus You're responsible for each other, 'cause that's your seat partner. Works out really well. Anyway, that's the, Our Lady of Fatima. It's really a nice place to visit, and it just... You just go there. When you get on the plane in LA, which we generally do fly out of, my friends, you're the Marys, not the Marthas. Don't worry about your home or your kids. Holy Trinity and Our Blessed Mother will take care of them. You just go along for the ride, record everything as much as you can, and come back home and tell people how much you really enjoyed the, the, the trip to Fatima and the- Um, Father, I wanna ask about, um, the three children when they, when the apparition started appearing, didn't they see, um, the Angel of Peace first? Wasn't the Angel of Peace appearing first to them? Yeah. Yeah. Then, you know what? I don't know about you, but what frightened my socks was, uh, being open to the, being open to the, uh, Our Lady showing them hell. Boy. Mm. Boy, if that wouldn't cause you some gray hair, I don't know what would. Well, just imagine when, um, the lady was telling them that we have offended God immensely by what we were doing, and this was back then. Imagine how offended he is now and, like, how worse humanity's been. Well, I can't wait for the guy to come, for him to come back and start, uh, spanking. It'd be really nice, you know? Mm-hmm. And then wouldn't have to worry about a laptop anymore. I could just see you person to person. Well, yeah. We need to really, like, pay attention. We've had all these warnings and messages from, from the Blessed Mary. We... Yeah. Well, he knows. He has the plan. Mm-hmm. So every morning when you get up, just remember, you start the morning with prayer. Mm-hmm. Not only for you, but for your kids. Yes. And you, and when you go to bed at night, you do the same thing. And if you have a chance, go through Catholic Direct or Amazon and get one of those little plastic things that you have that holds holy water in them. Mm-hmm. Maybe 10 bucks at the very most, whatever, you know? But you- Or you can just have, like, a simple bowl, right? Yeah. Ceramic. Yeah, it's the same idea. You know, then that way you just, you have it right there. It's blessed. And once you have some holy water in the house- Alls you gotta do is refill it with regular water, 'cause it perpetuates itself. So that's it. Mm-hmm. Don't have to run to the church- Yeah to get more holy water if you already got some blessed by the priest, and it's right there. And make sure you have a bottle in your car, too, and in every pocket and purse, right? Yep. A bottle of holy water. Not a bottle. What did I say? You s- you said, "Make sure you have a bottle in your car." A bottle of holy water. Yeah. Yeah. That's what I meant. A... That kind of bottle. See, I know you were gonna- Right add that. All right, Father. Okay. So we, um... Do you wanna say our closing prayer? Yeah. I'm gonna use this thing over again. Okay. I said a prayer for you today. I said a prayer for you today, and know God must have heard. I felt the answer in my heart, although He spoke no word. I didn't ask for wealth or fame. I knew you wouldn't mind. I asked Him to send treasures of a far more lasting kind. I asked that He'd be near to you at the start of e- each day, to grant you health and blessings and friends to share your way. I asked for happiness for you in all things great and small, but it was like His loving care I prayed for all of us today. Amen. Amen. Father, Son, Holy Spirit, amen.
